TFB Global is now providing a modification kit to effectively manage the rusty steel fuel tank in the Super Duty Chassis Cab. All steel fuel tanks will rust at some point.  With the introduction of Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel Fuel, the concern was intensified as the "dry" fuel does a poor job creating a corrosion barrier on the inside of the fuel tank.  The resulting rust exfoliates settling in the tank until it is stirred up and ultimately restricts in the fuel pick up socks. Until now the solution was buy a new fuel tank and pick up assembly that will end up in the same condition in the future.  The only option worse is a slosh coated tank that will fail sooner than the steel will rust.

The TFB Global solution consists of a modification to the fuel pick up assembly and the installation of a combination fuel pre-filter and water separator.  As part of the installation process, the fuel tank is removed for cleaning and reinstalled with the modified fuel pick up assembly.

Conceptually, we cannot eliminate fuel tank rust, however we can reconfigure the truck to manage the rust during normal maintenance, and in the worst case, an additional 20 minutes of maintenance every 2500 miles.

Once the TFB Global Fuel Sentinel kit is installed and the fuel pick up assembly is modified, your fuel tank will never restrict with rust again.  The rust that used to plug the in-tank socks is now rinsed off the reusable pre-filter screen in just minutes.

In terms of true cost, if you are already facing the dreaded fuel tank replacement, our system will actually reduce the overall cost as you will not be buying a new fuel tank!  Typical cost to service the fuel tank, modify the pick up assembly and install the pre-filter should be about 20% less than the price of the new fuel tank alone.

Our kit includes all parts and material needed for installation.  High quality hose, clamps, mounting brackets and detailed instructions are all there.  We even include door jam and under hood labels to alert maintenance personnel of the added filter.
